Every once in a while, we would like to award ourselves some tasty treats after a stressful week whether it is ice cream, cake, pancakes or waffles, ANYTHING! As long as it satisfies our taste buds.
Regarding snacks, there is no doubt that waffles are indeed one of the most favorite desserts we have, but did you know that before it became waffles, it was called “obelios” back in ancient Greece? They were traditionally cooked between two metal plates. In the medieval period, obelios came to be known as “wafers” which, later on, were stamped with various designs such as family crests or grids. In the 17th century, the Dutch, later on, introduced “wafles” into the New World (also where the pastry found its pair, the maple syrup). In 1735, they were spelled with an additional “f” and became the waffles that we know today.
Whatever we call waffles, I think we can all agree on the same thing. They taste divine! Even a Husky named K’eyush agrees. K’eyush has an indescribable love for waffles, and whenever he wants one, he gets very very excited! Whenever his Mum would ask him, “Key, would you like some waffles?” he would leap and bark with enthusiastically to show a resounding YES!
One day, he wants his owner to make him some waffles, but unfortunately, their waffle maker broke.K’eyush immediately throws a fit! Husky and Mum argue for a bit (he is one very stubborn and persistent dog). She even showed him the ruined waffles from the broken machine. But K’eyush is undeterred by the floury mishap. His Mum explained that the waffle maker can’t be fixed right now, but would K’eyush be happy to have pancakes instead?
Key is undecided at first. He’s not too happy about it, but he still gladly accepts his pancake. It’s better than nothing, right?
