In the rural countryside of County Cavan, Ireland, a sweet Border Collie named Lucky likes to make daily visits to the local elementary school.
Lucky walks every day from her home in the Cavan countryside to the nearby school and awaits cuddles and pets from the students. A local resident Sean Conway noticed the Border Collie one day while he was there for a school event. The dog was waiting at the outside wall, up on her hind legs, with her paws over the wall. She was familiar with the surroundings and looked quite comfortable. It turns out, she visits every day!
Sure enough, when the bell rung, hordes of kids piled out and came toward the Collie. Lucky stayed for about ten minutes, while many students gave her loving pets and cuddles. Lucky arrives at school, then jumps up on the brick wall in front of the school and waits.
An Irish Vet named Ciara Clarke owns Lucky. Clarke said she wasn’t surprised at all to find out her Collie visited the school every day. Calling her sweet and affectionate, she said they live very close to the school and Lucky likes to be around people.
Clarke grew up on a farm in rural Ireland and always knew she wanted to be a Veterinarian. She grew up surrounded by animals and wanted to continue to make them a part of her daily life. Not long ago, Clarke moved away from traditional animal medicine and set up her own clinic, Vet in the City. She works alongside daycares for dogs and specializes in preventative care.
Dogs are her favorite patients, and Border Collies are her favorite breed. Clarke mentioned Lucky is a typical Border Collie. Lucky is smart, kind, and very gentle. The local school is “lucky” to have her visit!
